John Wilson
Vice President

Mr. Wilson joined Ewing Management Group (EMG) in 2005 and is Vice President, Finance in the Operations Group with responsibilities for assisting portfolio management teams in controlling costs and capital employed and improving cash flow. Mr. Wilson is responsible for leading and directing the financial activities of portfolio companies, working closely with company management and where needed assuming management leadership positions.

Prior to joining EMG, Mr. Wilson was Vice President, Finance at Bredero Shaw, a global provider of pipe coatings and insulation systems for land and sub-sea oil & gas gathering and transmission lines, operating from plants in fifteen countries. Mr. Wilson served eleven years with the parent group, ShawCor Ltd., a global manufacturer of energy-related equipment, in the senior financial roles of most of the company's operating divisions and at the corporate level. Along with responsibility for accounting, audit, tax planning, treasury, business plans and information systems, Mr. Wilson worked closely with Operations and Engineering to monitor and control production costs and develop and implement cost reduction programs and he evaluated and controlled capital expenditures. He also supported Commercial personnel in achieving profitability, risk management and cash flow criteria on new business and led due diligence teams associated with joint ventures and business acquisitions.

Prior to ShawCor, Mr. Wilson was a Manager with Deloitte & Touche, where he spent seven years in the business valuations and audit & accounting groups working with manufacturing-related operations in industries including packaging, automotive parts, steel fabrication, civil construction and pulp & paper.

Mr. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Alberta and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators.
